Lowcountry Oyster Festival

Lowcountry Oyster Festival, the world’s largest oyster festival started in 1982, is a great event to visit with your friends and family. Listed by Southeastern Tourism Society as one of the “top 20 events in the southeast”, this one-day event in January includes contests, live music, wine, beer, and local cuisine. There’s also all the oysters you can eat – 2017 saw 80,000 pounds of oysters sold by the bucket! If you’re visiting with children, there’s a “Children’s Area” to keep kids occupied and entertained. The contests include “Oyster Shucking” and “Oyster Eating”. Lowcountry Oyster Festival benefits the charities The Ronald McDonald House, Hollings Cancer Center, Shriners Hospitals for Children and Charleston County Schools Science Materials Resource Center.

Admission fees are $17.50 for advanced tickets, or $25 per person the day of the event. Children 10 years old and under are free with a paying adult. The hours of the event are from 10am to 5pm. All major credit cards are accepted.
